Civitanova is a city located in a strategic place: in the heart of the Marche, on the coast, it is a place rich in history and which represent a centre for the Marche's nightlife, as well as an economic centre of the Region. There are in fact many of the most important manufacturing companies of the italian fashion industry.
But Civitanova does not only mean shopping: fun can be found in many different ways, from concerts to shows and festivals which attract tourists from all over Italy, as well as visitors from all over the world, who stay here to appreciate the varied landscapes and the numerous activities Civitanova Marche has to offer.
Riviera del Conero
The "Parco Naturale Regionale del Conero" is one of the most beautiful places in the Marche, and among the most evocative ones of the Adriatic Coast, known for its crystal clear waters and the jagged coastline created by the Monte Conero; some of the beaches there have been awarded the "Bandiera Blu". The most famous beach is the "Due Sorelle", but also "Mezzavalle" and "Portonovo" are beloved tourist destinations. The Conero is also appreciated by hikers who love to venture along the paths, by trekking or on a mountain bike, to discover these unique landscapes.
Parco Nazionale dei Sibillini
The Sibillini Mountains are a mountain group which separates the Marche and Umbria regions: a majority of the territory is a protected area, part of the "Parco dei Sibillini", with splendid natural destinations, like Lake Pilato, which can be reached on foot and where travelers can find the Chirocephalus marchesonii, a small prehistoric shrimp which has found its natural habitat in this lake! During your excursions you can also encounter deer, fawns, hares, owls as well as hawks, if you are really lucky!
This lovely town is known all over the world as the birthplace of two great minds of italian culture: tenor Beniamino Gigli and poet Giacomo Leopardi, whose house can be visited, as well as the places which inspired his beautiful verses, like the "Colle dell'Infinito", a FAI cultural heritage. Recanati is also a wonderfully preserved town, home to precious artworks by Lorezo Lotto, a Renaissance painter who left a mark in the Marche, thanks to his influential art.
One of the district capitals of the Marche Region, this city represents the region very well. Macerata's history is ancient and rich in nuances: its prestigious universities, which were among the first founded in Italy, have thousands of students, who can choose a vast variety of disciplines and fields in which to deepen their knowledge. Macerata is also a place of art and architecture, with many centuries living side by side. In Macerata you can also find the Sferisterio, a renowned open theatre which hosts an Opera season as well as concerts and performances of famous national and international artists.
This tows is made special by something unique in the world: it hosts, inside the Basilica ( one of the world's biggest churches) the Nazareth House, which is, according to tradition, the house in which Maria received the Annunciation from Archangel Gabriel. For this reason, millions of pilgrims visit Loreto and this sacred place to express their devotion. Aside from religious reasons, the Basilica of Loreto is an architectural monument which hosts prestigious artworks of immense value, including statues, paintings and marble friezes.
The Fiastra Abbey is located in the Fiastra Valley near the homonymous river, between Tolentino and Urbisaglia. It is the region's most important Monastery; the romantic and gothis styles have a clear lombardic and cistercian influence. The first church was built where the current abbey lies, in 971, but the actual construction works of the abbey started in 1142. The complex, which includes the cloister, refectory adn some other buildings and lands, are surrounded by a natural reserve, visited by many tourists every year, who choose to spend a few quiet hours in nature, to relax and enjoy the landscape.
